San Juan on turn around day?

We are doing a B2B on the Jewel in May. There will be 8 of us. I am checking out things/tours to do on that day. We have all been to OSJ several times and will also have time there pre-cruise. Have done the rain forest, although that is a possibility for our group since not all have done that. Are there any other tours through private operators that anyone could recommend that we can do? Staying on the ship is a possibility, but since we have a long day there I would like to see what our other options are, too.

 

We are all 55+ and a couple have mobility issues (not wheelchair, but can't walk too far) so that is a consideration, also.

Have you walked the perimeter of the fort - Fortelaza de la Prinscessa(sp?). We did it last trip - had a great time. Beautiful scenic walk along the ocean the returned to the ship by walking across the fort lawn and down through the shopping area of Old San Juan.

 

We love the rainforest. The hike to the waterfall is nice when you can take your time and go for a swim - very memorable!

we have same issues and questions about what to do all day the question I have seems to be our location at the pan am port what excursions are available ... rental cars are not.. ships excursions are drop off at airport stared looking into private tours any info would be helpful

The Rio Camuy Caves Park and the Arecibo Observatory are both popular and combinable excursions. You should find plenty of companies that offer them.

 

It's a day trip, but very doable if you start early. The attractions are about a two hour drive west of San Juan along a very scenic toll road (Expreso, we call them here).

The cruise ship excursions drop people off at the airport and then return consecutive cruisers back to the port, so a cruise ship excursion is very doable. At least that is true with RCI. Check with your cruise line.
