we'll be arriving a day early in tampa on the 25th of this month. does anyone know a hotel either at the airport or near the port that is within reason with their price?

we just don't want to drop $200-$300 for a place to sleep and shower (basically for 12 hours)...

i know that there isn't a lot of time to reserve as well as it being a saturday night...

any thoughts?

thanks in advance...

Here is a link to some Tampa hotels that offer the cruise pkg that will give you transportation. The Westshore and Rocky Point areas are near the airport and seem to be better priced than those in the downtown area.

We have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Rocky Point. They have an airport shuttle, clean hotel, hot breakfast and roundtrip shuttle to/from the port. The Hampton Rocky Point and Chase Suites Rocky Point are both next door and offer the same package. http://www.hiextampa.com/

The Springhill Suites Westshore Tampa is also a popular choice. I'm not sure if they offer a cruise pkg but it may be worth checking out.

We often stay in the Westshore area. It's very close to TPA and convenient for restaurants/malls etc. Try Intercontinental Westshore - it is often possible to get an excellent deal via a Priceline bid or express deal- It is listed as 4 star in a zone with the 4 star Renaissance at TPA so a bid at this star rating is pretty safe as Renaissance is also a good hotel. Both hotels have an airport shuttle and I don't think the cab fare to the port would be too bad.

Rates tend to be better on weekend nights and we have often paid only $55-60 per night. Good luck!

I agree with previous poster that Westshore is probably a better location than downtown to get a deal!

We have stayed at the Chase Suites in Rocky Point. Free breakfast and right next door to the bahama breeze restaurant for dinner.

For some reason it is not available in March this year so we are staying at the Hampton, same area. Both offer the cruise package which is transporation from the airport to the hotel and then to the cruise port. Also from cruise port to the air port on return.

I just stayed at the Marriott Residence Inn Westshore for 2 nights over New Years. Very nice hotel with 3 restaurants across the parking lot, they were Lee Roy Selmon's, Fleming's Steakhouse and Roy's Fusion Restaurant. Taxi fare from Tampa Airport to the hotel was $15. IIRC the ride from this area to the port is about 10-15 minutes but I'm not sure how much taxi fare would be.

We stayed at the Hyatt Place Airport/West Shore 28 December. Free airport shuttle. Free shuttle to and from port. Great free breakfast. Shuttle will take you anywhere within 3 miles of the hotel. Surrounded by wonderful restaurants and shopping. Nice, clean rooms. We had 5 and a double room, so I can't give you the price comparison. Have fun!:)

Springhill Westshore does offer the cruise package...it's the 4th hotel on the parkingstay list.
