abenaki Posted February 22, 2014 #26 Share Posted February 22, 2014 Gyroscopic From Safaga on, you will be travelling in a convoy of many ships, with visible military destroyer escort all the way through Pirates Alley. You will understand when you are there that stops for swimming would be totally out of the question, given the situation. ( it can happen on a transatlantic, but not on this route). The ONLY reason that cruise ships ever stopped in Safaga was to allow for excursions to the Valley of the Kings, otherwise it really isn't a port that you would be happy to spend a day in. With Yemen on your right and Somalia on your left, there isn't much option for stopping on your itinerary. Any other opinion on this is issue is likely just ill informed about the present political situation in the area, imho. You have obviously already done your research, and will no doubt have a good time regardless. I was on the eastbound trip, and you will find that the company has taken very adequate precautions for your safety.
gyroscopic Posted February 22, 2014 Author #27 Share Posted February 22, 2014 Hi Abenaki Thanks for your response. However considering there are no stops now ...do they just go extra slowly so as to arrive at Suez canal on the same day as originally scheduled? cheers
