Luggage Express Question.......

We will be cruising this summer out of POM. Our flight will be on Southwest in Ft Lauderdale. I have read as much as I can about luggage express, but the one thing I haven't seen is the timing. I know the flight has to depart after a certain time, but is there an end time? Last year when we cruised on RCI, I thought I had read that the flight can't leave after 6 or 7 or something like that. We would like to rent a car and spend the day leisurely then drive back to FLL. If I can get rid of our luggage we could get away with a smaller ( and less expensive!) car. We are a family of 5--each with a small carry on , and last year we had about 7 checked bags.
