selma Posted March 27, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 27, 2014 Wondering if you guys can help me out here. I'm wondering if I were to go to front desk for cash foreign currency, it will get charged to my obc and if types of obc might make a difference? Reason of asking; I've got a lot of obc on my next itinerary as a result of some issues previously. An amount I would normally never be able to charge on my own. However, that would totally be altered if I could use that obc towards cash foreign currency. I know, 3% and not best exchange rate but don't really care that much about that. That cash could be put to very good usage in paying for tour options. Options HAL wont be able to offer through shorex given my special needs. Can I do this, or will this not be allowed? "Worst" case scenario I have the option to split the obc up on multiple cruises (I know, not standard but put those ducks in order when realising the amount offered would never be realistic for my style of spending or cruising), but if possible it would be so much easier to just apply it all in once and get some tour options in place that are very costly and not constantly keep track of obc's over time. jtl513 Posted March 27, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 27, 2014 (edited) Cash advances are charged to your account, and OBCs offset those charges. You would first draw $US and pay the 3%, then exchange it for foreign cash with a fee, but since you say you don't mind that, what you're suggesting will work. There might be a daily limit, though. You can also get the initial $US without the 3% fee by going to the casino, charging money to your account in a slot machine, then going to the cage to cash out. Again, there might be a daily limit to doing that. The most we've ever done in one day was $200 by putting $100 on my key-card and $100 on DW's, but I don't remember if that $100 was the max we could put on the key-card at one time, or if there was another reason for doing it that way. .
