Anyone who has recently sailed Splendor...

I know things are tweaked a little for each cruise but are generally the same. However, I would like to know how a few things.

How was the food? Especially MDR, did it take long?

Enterainment? What shows did they have? Clubs? Casino? Comedians?

I assume the staff and service was all very nice and friendly. How was the cruise director? Annoying/corny? Make lots of unnecessary announcements?

Anything else that sticks out in your mind and think we should know about?

Thanks!!!

I recently cruised the splendor in march as this was my first cruise I don't have anything to compare. I had a wonderful time. The staff all work very hard! The ship is well maintained. The food in MDR is excellent, we had your time dining and never had a wait unless u consider 5 minutes a wait and that was on formal night. Cruise director was Malcolm woo-hoo burns real funny not annoying. Many activities to get involved in! Enjoy!

We cruised the Splendor, mid February and loved her. The décor may not be to everyone's taste, but I don't pick a particular ship because of the décor.

We ate in the MDR every night. We had anytime eating, usually went to dinner about 6:45-7:00 and NEVER once waited for a table. We asked for the same waite staff every night and we were seated immediately.

We are vegetarians, so we didn't eat any meat, but we do eat sea food and we found the food on this cruise way above average. We sailed the Glory last summer and found the Splendors food much better. Service was remarkable. At dinner we always had hot food, waiters that bent over backwards to please us. A wonderful experience.

We also found the entertainment to also be above average. Again, from our Glory cruise, we hated the entertainment, but here it was excellent. From the production shows to the Legends show, the last night, most of the shows were very entertaining. We went to the Punchliner about 4 times for the adults only shows and most were good. There were a couple of the comics we found just too crude, but most of the others were funny.

We never went to any of the other clubs, so there is no comment on them.

AS far as Malcolm, the CD. either you like him or you don't. I was not a big fan of his, but To be honest, I rarely saw him.

Overall, we liked sailing the Splendor very much and would so again when the opportunity arises.

Cheers

Len

I was on mid-March. Here are my impressions

Embarkation - average - about 30 minutes to line up and get through

Cabin steward - Excellent, on of the best I have had

Bar staff - The actual bar tenders were great, I felt I waited far to long getting drinks from the wait staff. They tend to collect lots of orders then doing one large trip. I got fed up waiting sometimes 20 minutes and stopped ordering from them and went straight to the bar.

MDR - I always found something I liked. As usual, I find the appetizers better than the mains and always ordered at least two. Some nights I split the main. I wasn't fond of our head waiter, no issues, just very mechanical. Our team/assistant waiter made up for him and was a joy, especially for our son. Desert options were a bit limited, but that is carnival, not the ship.

Lido buffet - when comparing Royal Caribbean and Carnival food, I have always said the carnival is better in the MDR and royal is better in the buffet. This cruise was no exception.

Entertainment - the main theatre was ok, closer to a College production than a broadway or Vegas show. All the other venues, bands, piano bar, comedy club, poolside etc were excellent.

Cleanliness - above average for carnival

Debarkation - always bad ;-)
