Access to shore limited?

Have not cruised Seabourn before and looking at 2 trips in Nov 2014, Nov 15 St Maarten to Barbados and Nov 16 Aruba to St. Maarten. Both stop in St. Lucia, but the Nov 16 trip has a note that you can only go ashore with an excursion. Any thoughts on why this would be? It is an anchorage at Soufriere rather than docking at Castries.

I doubt we would be interested in many excursions, we are usually explore on our own or beach people. Last cruise on Seadream, only did one excursion to biobay on Vieques. My main desire to go to St. Lucia is to see the Pitons which I believe would be best seen on the ship anyway.

No excursions are listed at this time for any ports so it's hard to make a decision.

May be a moot point though, looks like the Nov 15 went down in price since I last viewed them :)
