Newark, NJ Airport recomendation?

We have an overnight layover in Newark this November. We get in at 6pm and leave at noon the next day. Any ideas for either a decent, inexpensive hotel very close to the airport, or perhaps a more unique hotel somwhat in the area that may be worth the effort?

 

Any ideas appreciated.
