beanozak Posted June 26, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 26, 2014 My daughter and granddaughter are cruising for the first time at the end of August. They have one or two questions that I can't answer help please. 1. I have read the thread on hairdriers is it best to take your own? What socket adaptor will they need. 2. Granddaughter is 14 is there plenty of things for her to do will there be other teenagers on the ship? 3. Are you allowed to take your own alcohol on the ship. I din't want to start a debate on the rights and wrongs of taking your own alcohol on board just a yes or no if you can or can't. Is the luggage scanned when taken aboard? Thank you for your help. Hi beanozak 1. If taking own hairdryer/straighteners make sure they are Dual voltage. Ship's current is 110 volt. We take both two pin flat and round plugs plus an extension lead with approx. 1m length of cable which will sit comfortably on the dressing table and charge phones/cameras/readers etc. 2. I think granddaughter should be ok. I believe there are get-togethers and activities for teenagers. 3. Whole ship is all inclusive with only supplements on some of the dearer/special drinks. Don't think there is any problem with taking your own alcohol. There will no doubt someone with more knowledge than me regarding points 2 and 3 who will keep you right. :)
ekco Posted June 26, 2014 #3 Share Posted June 26, 2014 We had a hairdryer on deck 9 recently. You can hire one for free from reception. Do a 'search this forum' and tick 'posts' regarding hairdryers. We used to take bottles on board with no trouble but, to be honest, we couldn't be bothered as it's AI so why carry all that weight from the supermarket.:) Jan
jenny wren Posted June 26, 2014 #4 Share Posted June 26, 2014 We were on deck 6 and had 110 volt American style flat pin socket AND 220 volt European round pin socket by dressing table, so UK hairdryer will work in 220 volt socket with a European adapter....I take my own. why take your own alcohol when they provide it free!!!!! I'm sure there will be other teenagers on board...and that your daughter and grand daughter will have a lovely time. :)
