First time NCL & POA..questions!

We Just booked a B1 aft facing balcony stateroom on deck 8. Hope someone here can help me with some questions about the stateroom and the ship. Here goes.

Is the balcony covered?

How big is the sofa?

Is the refrigerator just a mini fridge with stocked items & can we have those removed or remove them ourselves?

From the NCL booklet there is a layout & picture of a balcony stateroom that shows a desk/vanity in the corner by the balcony door, is it as teeny tiny as it looks and are there any drawers or mirror there?

Would a hanging organizer be helpful? Are all the walls metal?

Besides Liberty, Skyline, Cadillac Diner, Aloha Buffet & room service is there anywhere to get pizza?

What are the other included eating places?

Does anyone know if this balcony is about the same size as a Oasis/Allure balcony room? They are pretty small.

I know I’ll get my answers here on CC and I’m sure I’ll have some more questions later..thanks.

Hi there Lorey.

I have just booked POA for my honeymoon for September 2015 and I found some information about POA in the Hawaii section of the forum. I must admit I have been disappointing in the lack of recent reviews and pictures but not much I can do about that. I think people are excited about the bigger and newer ships now a days.

We have done this cruise three times and your going to love the cruise and the aft cabin. The balcony is cover about 3' as you walk out but then the rest is fully open to the sun. Your deck 8 is second from the bottom in the aft pic. The sofa is more like a futon and will sleep one.

Yes to the frig. questions have your room steward remove them.

Yes to the table its tiny with a stool and a full mirror from ceiling to top of table. You will find drawers in the closet area, luggage will fit under bead.

You will find one hook on the wall beside the bathroom door or you may be able to hang it in the closet or beside the sink on the shower wall.

One note is that the cabins on POA are smaller than the cabins on other NCL ships, but still comfortable. And if this is your first trip to Hawaii you should be seeing as much as you can as it's not a cheap vacation. If you do excursion every day like most fols do you will have long days, getting up early and tired at the end of the day that some folks are too tired to go to the entertainment.

There also NO casino's on board as there is NO gambling in the State of Hawaii.

POA has the Aloha cafe which has a huge outdoor eating ares open to the sun or under canape, located directly above the last row of balconies and just a great area for eating. They also will do island talks out there i think at 7 am they will talk about the island you are docked at, very good info. if you haven't been before.

Food Pizza can be ordered to anywhere on the ship for $5.00 or in the Italian restaurant La Cucina which is a pay restaurant.

Here is a link to whats on board for eating etc. just slick on dining, speciality dining etc. cadillac diner has alot of great pub type food and very good. under dining all those venues are include except for the odd item like milkshakes. The speciality dining is extra charge.

We were in a aft balcony in December. Just think small. Small cabin, small balcony (two chairs), small desk, small sofa! The sofa will fit two sitting on it, but only one sleeping on it. That is why the cabin holds up to three people. If I had three people in there I would go nuts! Bathroom -tiny! Fortnately you don't spend a lot of time in the cabin.

The balcony was partly covered. Did I mention that it is small? lol Also, the balcony slidng door was really messed up. Hard to lock and unlock. At first we would think it was secure only to discover later that it had slid open. But we eventually got the hang of it.

Yes the desk/vanity is small. But there must have been a mirror there because I am pretty sure that is where I blow dried my hair and put on makeup. The tv has been updated. I don't know if the walls were metal or not.

There is also food at the Key West Bar and Grill in the afternoon/evening. It is included.

Buckeye82,

We are booked on the POA during the week of Christmas. I read that you cruised in December also. Can you give me an idea of what the weather might be like?

One tiny tip. One side of the bathroom mirror opens to reveal shelves! I found this storage in the bathroom to be invaluable...and it isn't obvious!

Oh thanks I'll need that but just one side......what ever will DH do:D. I best bring that over the door thing!

Is there a door on the shower or the dreaded curtain?
