Carnival Valor Dec 28-Jan 4- New Year's Eve

We have about 18 going on a cruise during New Year's and were wondering from past cruisers what to expect on New Year's Eve aboard the Carnival Valor. Also, is this one of the 2 formal nights? Our cruise leaves out on Sunday from San Juan, is in St. Thomas on Monday and then Tuesday is our day at sea. I know from past cruises that this will be one of the formal nights but didn't make sense that they would be back to back with NYE being on Wednesday. Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I've been in 2 NYE cruises with carnival. One on the liberty and another in the dream. It isn't considered a formal night so pack enough formal clothes if your into doing that. NYE will be fun, deck party on lido, champagne, confetti, dj with music all that fun stuff

We cruised on Valor over New Years two years ago. However, it was just before she moved to San Juan. For us, New Years Eve was a formal night. We boarded on Sunday, and NYE was Monday.

 

We were given free glasses of champagne during lunch the 1st day plus on New Years Eve. We also were given party hats and horns during dinner.

 

There was a huge party on the Lido Deck which was a blast! We got there early, right after early dinner, so we could get a table on Lido. We played cards, and had drinks waiting for the party. We traveled with 9 people.

I read in another post that there is free champagne on the lido deck. Is that true?

Yes, there was twice during our cruise. On the first day right after boarding, and during the NYE party. It was kinda difficult to get during the party. The waiters were usually out before they got to us. It wasn't all that great anyways, lol.
