Good Friday - Old San Juan

We will be arriving on Fri 4/3 approx 2pm, staying at Sheraton Old San Juan Resort & Casino for a one-night pre-cruise stay. Leaving on Celebrity Summit via Pan American terminal on Sat 4/4.

I'm concerned with the holiday - Good Friday - and hours of operation for things to do/see in town. Will the Forts be open? Will trolley still run full day? How about restaurants, will they celebrate holiday or remain open (can email them directly for hours I guess)?

We planned on doing a self-walking tour of OSJ for a few hours after check in to see El Morro and walk Promenade (nearby fountain at sunset?), then casual dinner with drinks and hopefully live music/dance. Any suggestions for local places for happy hour/dinner/etc within walking distance from Sheraton?

We plan to just have breakfast and cab it to pier next morning for early boarding on ship, not touring city this day, want to board early and explore ship (very port intensive itinerary, not a lot of ship time).

Appreciate any help. Thx!

We are also arriving in San Juan on April 3rd and I had not even thought about it being Good Friday! We will be staying 2 nights and leaving on the Carnival Liberty on Easter Sunday. We did not realize this when we booked our cruise almost a year ago.

I will also be interested to know if places will be closed for the holidays. I hadn't considered this until now. We were planning on visiting the forts on Saturday and touring around OSJ, but we will also need places to eat on Friday after our flight comes in and also on Sunday for breakfast before we get on our ship.

Puerto Rico is a very Catholic-centric culture and more than likely most places will be closed. Most stores close due to a local law. The forts will be open on their regular hours but expect other local government run installations to be closed as well. Haven't been in OSJ in years for Good Friday so I won;t venture into commenting on the trolley or restaurants but there's a Wendys and a Burger King that most likely will be open.

Glad to hear the two forts we want to see will be open, and wanted to walk shoreline a bit east of town. but am really disappointed about restaurants/bars. Where can one go for dinner/drinks (will not be interested in fast food)? Staying at Sheraton Old San Juan, flight getting in around 2pm, will be hungry for a good meal that night I'm sure after traveling all day. wanted to walk somewhere nice, but won't mind taking taxi if needed. Should've thought this through I guess, ugh. Maybe some of the bigger resorts that have restaurants?
