sauertea Posted June 18, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 18, 2015 Hi, we are taking the Star Breeze--Venetian Passageways in October. Wondering about the best way to see Delphi and Olympia. The Star Breeze offers a number of excursions. We are pretty independent travellers so we are comfortable doing our own thing. That being said, we will be docked in ITEA for a relatively short period of time, so wondering if the excursion is the best way to go in this case. We dock in Katakolon from 8-5. I understand that there is a tram from the port to Olympia. In this case there seem to be more alternatives to the excursion. Any thoughts or suggestions for either port? I think my biggest concern is making sure that we don't end up stranded and unable to make it back to the ship. Thanks in advance.
MTJtraveller Posted June 19, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 19, 2015 I too will be on the Breeze in October, Venetian Passages. I decided to go ahead with the ship excursion in Delphi just because it is such a short stay. We generally do one ship excursion, the rest on our own. We have been to Katakolon before, 10 years ago on the Wind Spirit. We met George of Taxi Katakolon in town and we negotiated a rate to go to Olympia. It was an excellent day. Now George is my good friend and employs others for excursions. I will be spending the day with George but I know there are others in his employ you can hire. He has a website where you can read all about his excursions and many, many reviews. You can't miss with George.
