hello,

we will be in Monte Carlo mid september.

we are having a hard time to squeeze in Eze during the day and were thinking of treating ourselves to a romantic dinner in Eze in the evening instead.

are galleries and shops still open around 8/9pm ish? we love strolling through the little streets and window shop, but if Eze is rather dead at night, we might have to re think our complete day plan.

do you also know if any of the restaurants provide shuttles from/to Monte Carlo? paying 100 E just for a round trip cab is pretty steep.

i received no answers when inquiring with restaurants... not sure if that means absolutely NO .

thanks for any info you can share!

My goodness, you are talking about France! Given their labor laws it is doubtful that many galleries and shops would be open after 7:30. As to the restaurants within the walled city, you are not going to get any free shuttle service. They probably thought your inquiry was a joke and did not bother to pay attention. But they do have some terrific restaurants...some of which could cost you over 400 Euros for dinner for 2 (with wine). There are also

ok, good to know about shops not being open in the evening, i was unable to figure that out online... thanks for the fast info... now we might have to figure out a different plan for the day to somehow include Eze.... back to more research ...:)

and yes we saw that dinners will be expensive, but we are willing splurge in Eze (of course we didnt expect a FREE shuttle service....that would be too good to be true in that region)

You still might be able to do your plan with a slight modification. Try to get to Eze Village by around 6 pm and you still should find quite a few shops and galleries open. Then about 7:30 head to a cafe for a cocktail and afterwards head off to dinner at one of the excellent restaurants. As to transportation you are probably going to use taxis...but an alternative is to simply rent a car for the day. We love having our own car because it gives us the most flexibility. The only downside is I have to be very careful when it comes to alcohol.

  • 4 weeks later...
A meal at Chateau Eze will be very memorable, not to be missed!

Agree. But (it is actually Chateau Eza). And with the strong dollar you may no longer need to get a 2nd mortgage to pay for dinner :). But seriously, we would eat there in a heartbeat.
