kingo30 Posted October 6, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 6, 2015 Hi My wife and I are going on our first ever cruise in october onboard Britannia B524A, my question is, is it better to exchange any money we need beforehand or can you get currency onboard Britannia and charge to your onboard account. I will be paying my credit card bill in full on our return, I feel it might be better to do it that way so I can see exactly how much I am spending/spent in total, I know I may get a few cents more doing it beforehand but then again I would rather not carry a large amount of cash down to Southampton or have it sitting in the safe? BrianI Posted October 6, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 6, 2015 You can get currency on board which is charged to your account but the exchange rate is never very good, maybe about 5cents less per pound than you would get elsewhere. I would suggest you get the bulk of your money before boarding and use the ships currency as a top up if needed. Try to get low denomination US dollars which makes it easier to use. U.S. Dollars are universally accepted throughout the Caribbean. Brian
