Sailing with baby on Sapphire princess

Hi All, we are travelling with our extended family on the Sapphire Princess for my mothers 70th birthday in January. In our balcony cabin will be our 8 year old son & 12 month old baby. I am concerned about the type of cot/crib they will provide for my 12 month old - the only notification I have so far is "portable crib" I am hoping for a more traditional crib as he is not the most flexible baby. Also we have been told that we will need to have twin beds rather than a queen. I have been on the Star before & I am trying to work out where they would place the crib in the cabin & if there is any way of blocking it off from us - hanging a curtain of some sort etc Has anyone put the crib in the wardrobe part of the cabin? The only problem I see here if it fits is that anyone going to the bathroom will wake the baby was your crib already set up & ready to go upon boarding? I'm starting to panic so if anyone has any tips or photos to share I would really appreciate it. In fact any baby related tips on the Sapphire would be appreciated. We tried to see if we could switch to a mini suite & unfortunately they are all booked out. TIA

I have travelled with a baby & older sibling before. It will be a portacot, not possible to get a normal cot through the cabin door.

You will have to have twin beds & there is no possibility of a Curtin. The cot will (most likely) be placed between the 2 beds.

I wouldn't think you could fit the cot in the wardrobe. There is no way anyone could get to the bathroom without having to move it. It's not a wide area.

Your baby won't be allowed in the swimming pools as only toilet trained kids can swim.

The dining staff we had are great with babies. Always had a high chair ready & food on it (watermelon) so baby was content straight away.

The crib is typically a "Pack and Play" or some similar model. There are no curtains to provide any privacy. A mini suite would be ideal...but if they are booked, see if you can be placed on a wait list. I don't know if they do this, but it can't hurt to ask.

The crib should be in the room when you board. You are going to be crowded! But then, you can enjoy the balcony during nap times.

Make sure to bring familiar bedding from home, and practice having your baby sleep different places...ie in a pack & play in different parts of your house (especially in the room with you, without responding to his every peep), in a motel, etc. Also, stick to his usual routine as much as possible.
