Rowan555 Posted October 7, 2005 #1 Share Posted October 7, 2005 I'm googling directions, and it's got me going through Houston - is there another way to get to Galveston without driving through Houston? It looks like there's a ferry on the east end of Galveston - can you take that ferry and then travel northeast to I-10?
No No Nanette Posted October 7, 2005 #2 Share Posted October 7, 2005 DON'T go through Houston! Take I-10 into Texas. (Perhaps stop at the Welcome Center for a map and confirmation of these directions). At the WINNIE exit, you drive South down to the coast, and then West to the Bolivar Ferry. It's a pleasant drive through sleeply little beach communities. A nice change from the interstate. (I'm headed that way 1 week from tomorrow!) Rowan555 Posted October 7, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted October 7, 2005 Thanks - hope YOU have a great time next week! I would have booked sooner, but we have a Thanksgiving family get together in Shreveport, so we're actually driving to Shreveport, then to Galveston, then home to New Orleans. I probably have to go through Houston when coming from Shreveport, but I sure don't want to do it when going home!
