Cruise paid for, excursions paid for, in room liquor paid for. Is it possible to reserve and pay for the Chefs Table dinner before hand? And the behind the scenes tour too? Is that possible to book ahead? Hate waiting in line to order. reserve, pay for things. Like to have it all done ahead of time.

I know you can reserve the chef's table in advance by emailing the steakhouse for your ship. You don't pay for it until the dinner though. As far as the behind the fun tour I don't think you can book until on board. When we did it we went straight to excursions desk upon boarding at around noon and there were already 8 names on the list, so book it quickly. IMO both were worth it and great experiences.

THE CHEF’S TABLE

 

Carnival has an exciting fine dining option for our guests – The Chef’s Table. This one-of-a-kind culinary experience includes an exquisite multi-course private dinner hosted by one of the line’s master chefs along with a private champagne reception (soft drinks for kids) and a personalized tour of the galley.

 

With The Chef’s Table, a select group of 12-16 guests (children must be 12 years of age and older) enjoy champagne and hors d’ouevres hosted by the ship’s chef de cuisine. The chef then takes the group on a personalized tour to see the galley in operation, providing participants with a unique perspective on Carnival’s extensive food and beverage operations.

 

The evening concludes with a sumptuous full-service dinner with delicious appetizers, entrees and desserts created by the line’s master chefs as well as red and white house wine. Depending on the vessel, the meal takes place in non-traditional dining venues throughout the ship – the galley, library, conference center, etc. The Carnival Vista has a dining room specifically for Chef’s Table with window views into the galley.

 

The cost is $75 USD per person. Children must be at least 12 years of age to participate. The dinner(s) as well as the dinner date(s) are subject to the number of guests wishing to participate in this experience.

 

The dress code follows the dress code specified for that evening on board; since guests are taken on a personalized tour of the galley, open-toed, heels and shoes with slippery soles are discouraged.

 

 

Pre-Cruise Reservation Procedures

 

Prior to the cruise, guests can send an email to Group Event Planning at eventplanning@carnival.com.

Requests must be submitted no later than 7 days prior to the sail date.

The subject line should read ‘Chef’s Table Request’ and the email should include the following information:

Names

Number of guests attending (children must be 12 years of age and older)

Ship and Saildate

Booking Number and Cabin Number

Group Event Planning will email the request to the specific ship Maitre d’.

The Maitre d’ will respond directly to the guest if they are able to accommodate the request.

Once onboard, the guest’s Sail & Sign card will be charged.

On Board Reservation Procedures

 

Reservations can be arranged on board with the Steakhouse Hostess.

On the following ships that do not have a Steakhouse, reservations can be arranged onboard with the Maitre d': Carnival Ecstasy, Carnival Elation, Carnival Fantasy, Carnival Fascination, Carnival Imagination, Carnival Inspiration, Carnival Paradise, Carnival Sensation, Carnival Triumph and Carnival Victory.

If you're interested in "pre-paying," you can always buy Carnival gift cards to use in advance. We haven't--and won't--pay for gas for months before and after cruises because we buy gift cards from the grocery store for the purchases we know we're going to make on board. Many people have pretty strong feelings about paying for things in advance, but I think it's a personal decision. Personally, I like to budget out most of our expenses, and part of that budgeting is buying gift cards for things we'll reserve. I make a list to estimate our on board expenses, and apply the gift cards to our S&S at the start of the cruise.

 

The only down side of this is if the Chef's Table doesn't happen. On our last cruise, we budgeted for Chef's Table, had the reservations, but there wasn't enough interest, so it didn't happen. This left us with $150 extra on our S&S ($75 each for two people), but we ended up buying gift cards on board with the balance, and using it as a deposit on the cruise we're taking this year, so it all worked out.
