Question re: disembarking early

I thought I posted this but strangely enough can't find it!

 

According to our Carnival rep, we can get off the ship early on debarkation day if we can manage our luggage by ourselves. My question is, have you ever tried disembarking early? Was it worth it? Pros and cons please!
