Hey folks,

does anyone know if

a) Wind Star is still offering on their ships the Discover Scuba Diving program?

b) If they can certify you on board if you participate in this program so you one could do book some SCUBA diving excursions at some of the Caribbean stops?

Thanks,

Bart

To the best of my knowledge, regretfully Windstar no longer offers their Discover Scuba program. During the 1990s Windstar fostered an entire generation of new divers, me included. It was a fantastic program. Rising insurance costs and restrictions imposed by local ports of call prohibiting diving from the ship without paying for a local shoreside dive master to come along contributed to the program's demise.

Thanks for the update, BartonX. That's great news! My very first opportunity to learn to scuba dive was on the Windsong in Tahiti in 1986 in their Discover Scuba program which ultimately led me to become a certified diver.
