DLKC Posted January 8, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 8, 2017 (edited) I often hang out and build friendships in Cruise Critic prior to a cruise, so I hope you all can help me with a somewhat related question. We will be staying in Playa del Carmen for 10 days and plan to take the ferry over to Cozumel for a day. We can go any day, but I see that the Sunday we could go has one ship in port and was wondering if that would be a good day to go as it would be relatively quiet. We like Cozumel and have been there several times only on ship days before, and never on a Sunday. This time we will NOT be doing a beach, but looking to shop/eat/drink/walk around the town; no driving/taxis. How much is open/closed in town on Sundays? Is it pretty much a ghost town, like Barbados? I see Pancho's Backyard is open 7 days a week, but we would not want to spend all our time there. Thanks! BusyBlond Posted January 8, 2017 #2 Share Posted January 8, 2017 (edited) You can bet if there is a ship in port, that MOST shops will be open. We were in Cozumel on Christmas day a few years back and everything was open. I expect they probably closed early, but we didn't run into any problems. InsideTraveler Posted January 9, 2017 #3 Share Posted January 9, 2017 We have stayed in Cozumel and can say that if there is a ship in port, most of the stores would be open. You can walk the main square and you would find the stores and restaurants open.
