happydays42 Posted February 5, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 5, 2017 Hi. We are Australians (with approved ESTA's) travelling from Australia to the US via NZ and Samoa with Cunard. We have Ports of Call in Honolulu and Hilo, and disembark in San Francisco, after a night on board the ship in harbour. Just a little confused as to where and how we clear Customs and Immigration etc. The new US rulings do not impact upon us. Thanks. fishywood Posted February 5, 2017 #2 Share Posted February 5, 2017 There will be an passport inspection by Immigration in Honolulu. Whether is is done on board or in the terminal cannot be predicted. It is entirely possible that no one (other than those on ship's tours) may go ashore before the inspection is 100% complete. You will not have to turn in your Customs Declaration until claiming your bags at final disembarkation in San Francisco. Unfortunately unlike most of the rest of the world the USA does not make the disembarkation procedures less cumbersome if your final port was immediately preceded by other domestic ports.
