Byron Glacier or Matanuska for DYI trip in Anchorage

We will be in Anchorage from 8AM-11PM and are considering renting a car and driving to one of the accessible Glaciers. Would you recommend Byron Glacier or Matanuska Glacier?

Either way is a good choice. If you do the Matanuska Glacier, you'll get the best experience using a guide, like MICA or Nova.

If you do Byron, there's a lot of other great stops in the Portage/Girdwood area, like the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center or the tram at Alyeska.
