need help deciding

Traveling with people that have been on Celebrity and Princess. We have only been on Celebrity and RCCL. We have done southbound and northbound in the past to Alaska.

 

We are planning another trip to Alaska, this time all three ships we are looking at are round trip from Seattle. The only difference is the Celebrity ship goes to Hubbard Glacier, where the two Princess ships go to Tracy's arm and Victoria from (5pm to 11:55pm). The ships are as follows: Mercury (Celebrity), Sun or Dawn Princess.

 

We would love to hear input to help us decide. By the way, one of us is a newbie to cruising and have not seen Alaska before.

We find the food on Princess to be better than RC and the food on Celebrity to be better than Princess. While Princess has speciality restaurants, they do not compare with the M class Celebrity ships. I believe Princess does Glacier Bay which some people say is better than Hubbard, but Hubbard was pretty spectacular.

I was on the Dawn this summer in Alaska and found the southbound itinerary very nice, the ship well cared for but the food mediocre and the ship life VERY dull. Service was good but I was disappointed in the entertainment staff, activities and such. There was very little going on. I'd say this might be a function of the itinerary but I have to say it was a let down since I was excited to sail my first Princess ship.
