punkrocknow Posted May 4, 2017 #1 Share Posted May 4, 2017 Good morning. We (6 of us) will be arriving in Roatan aboard NCL Escape in about 2 weeks. Have read many of the great reviews here and are planning to take the kids to DJ's to see the sloth/monkeys. I typically book excursions in advance, but have also waited until we arrive at port to scope a deal. Never been to Roatan, so was looking for a bit of advice. Thanks! Rare crewsweeper Posted May 4, 2017 #2 Share Posted May 4, 2017 There are kiosks at the Coxen Hoile port that offer excursions and you can book them right there. Not sure if Daniel Johnson has a kiosk. He's the one with the sloths. But Victor Bodden and Rony both do. Victor's drivers always head to Victors place with the monkeys and other animals. An alternative, and you'll need to book this via the ship once you are on board, is to go to Maya Key. It's a small islet just off the shore in Coxen Hole and ran by the people who own Anthony's Key up in Sandy Bay. They have a lot of different animals at Maya Key. oceanheart1 Posted May 4, 2017 #3 Share Posted May 4, 2017 It can be busy, especially on days with more than one ship in port. There are many Island tour companies that privately offer tours to see the sloths, monkeys and the iguana farm which you can book in advance. Try Artley at http://www.bluecoolrunningtours.com. Usually, booking before you arrive at the port can get you a better rate.
Rare crewsweeper Posted May 4, 2017 #4 Share Posted May 4, 2017 Interesting... I always thought blue cool running did fishing excursions. I see via the link that they do stop at Daniel Johnson's for the sloths.
