frankc98376 Posted September 4, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 4, 2017 Seeing news reports that Tropical Storm Lidia slammed into Cabo causing lots of damage. We leave Vancouver BC on Sept 25 heading to Mexico. Waiting to hear updates about infrastructure.
CWcruisers Posted September 4, 2017 #2 Share Posted September 4, 2017 Infrastructure is fine. There was a lot of rain causing lots of flooding and mud. Medano Beach has already been cleaned up thanks to the many volunteers who pitched in and helped. The immediate issue were major roads blocked with mud and a few collapsed bridges, but that is being taken care of quite quickly and the bridges are not in a tourist zone. Something like this hits the poor people the hardest and there are various fund raisers and donation sites already in place to help them out. By the time you arrive in Cabo, you may not know anything ever happened. One thing I can guarantee, it will be hot! Be prepared. Also, several businesses were closed for a few days after the storm which means many workers did not get to earn tips, so please, partake in the local food and beverage and maybe a little shopping and help them out.

We were there last year about the same time so ready for the heat. Looking forward to leaving some US $$ in Cabo!
qwertysue Posted September 15, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 15, 2017 Norma is supposed to make landfall in Cabo on Monday as a Cat 1. Will be interesting to see if they switch port orders, skip Cabo or add additional days at other ports.
CWcruisers Posted September 17, 2017 #5 Share Posted September 17, 2017 Headed West. As of 9 pm PST 09/16/17, there has hardly been any rain or wind. There may be some rain from the fringes but was downgraded to a tropical storm and is heading out to sea. If it makes landfall, it will be north of Cabo.
