Carnival Gift card from American Express - Anyone have any experience with it?

So this is different than a regular gift card, it's pretty much a prepaid Amex. American Express has an option to redeem membership points for the gift card. But since it's not a regular gift card I'm trying to confirm if I can use it to pay part of the cruise itself, and pay rest with another card. I can find information about using it on the ship itself, but I want to get a $500 one, and send my parents on a cheap cruise that would be a little over $500.

Yes, it works. I just used one on my 10/22/17 cruise on the pride. I use it to pay for some of my expenses online before cruise and put the rest on my S&S card at the service desk once I was onboard.

If your attachment is a picture of your actual card and number, I don't think I would post it publicly. Hopefully it is a "sample" image with a dummy account number!
