I've read that Hertz has a satilite office/drop off for Miami Port..any one familar with the location - or their shuttle from Hertz to to ship. Wondering if I would be better of just taking taxi from Fort Lauderdale? Any advice would be appreciated.

A taxi from FLL to the Port of Miami would run roughly approximately $80-90 or so. A rental car is much cheaper, and yes, Hertz and Avis (opening in January) both have downtown Miami locations close to the port. Some other rental car companies will shuttle you to the port from their MIA airport locations.

Another alternative that's much cheaper than a taxi is Tri-County/Airport Express... http://www.floridalimo.com/

You can get a TownCar for about the same price as a taxi, and they're a lot more comfy! A taxi would be the last way I'd want to make that trip.
