Holiday Inn Downtown LongBeach?

Has anyone stayed at the HI Downtown LongBeach? I am getting mixed reviews. Good hotel-bad location? We don't need anything fancy, but clean and safe. They provide a shuttle to the pier but we may have a rental car that we may have to return to Long Beach Airportso that may not matter.

Any input appreciated.

I live in Long Beach and my husband has been here 36 years. He would not stay there and said you would be better off at the Holiday Inn near the Long Beach Airport. They are maybe an additional 20 minutes from the pier.

 

The downtown LB location is not in the best neighborhood. If you want to stay downtown, look for something on Ocean Blvd. They may be pricey though.

We have also chosen to stay at the DownTown Holiday Inn at Longbeach. We ended up choosing this hotel due to the fact it is being paid for via points and reviews on tripadvisor where good.

 

Unless you get a good deal it may be worth you while bidding through Priceline for a better hotel/ better location at the same price.
