Bus from Mexico to SD....

We are cruising from Honolulu to Ensenada on April 1 and will be bused from Ensenada to San Diego on April 12. My question is......has anyone ever had this experience and where did you go through customs? Is it handled on the ship before we board the bus?.......at the border crossing?.......at the San Diego airport?

We did your itinerary in 2001. We were on Celebrity's Infinity. We were all bussed to San Diego (no stopping in Ensenada at all). The morning we crossed the border was very hectic and some folks missed/almost missed their planes. We were on one of the last busses off the ship and were in line for at least an hour at the border. Thankfully, we stayed overnight in San Diego and flew home the next day, so we were in no hurry. We all had to get off at the border and walk through customs. We had heard it was 2 hours to get to San Diego, but it took us almost 3 1/2 hours to get to San Diego with all the delays at the border. I really don't think this is the "norm" however, and surely hope it isn't for everyone! After walking through the border/customs, we all boarded our same busses and were taken to the San Diego airport.

 

If you make sure you have plenty of time for your San Diego flight, you should be fine.
