FREE decent beach in Nassau???

We will be in Nassau on 1/23 and are looking to make it a relaxing beach day. I have read good things about using the facilities at British Colonial Hilton, but would love to avoid the $15 per person if at all possible, since I don't think we will spend a full day there. Are there any nice beaches that don't cost, or are maybe just a few dollars? And, if we do the British Colonial, can we leave and come back (to eat lunch on the ship)? Thanks for your help!
