Can Americans do leisure activities in between official tours?

Hi everyone,

I'm heading to Havana on a RCL in two weeks. It is an overnight port stay from 8am to 8am. I have a 4 hour tour booked from 8:45am to 12:45pm then another tour from 5:30pm to 9:30pm. These time frames are filled by qualified cruise tours. I really want to see a nearby beach with bars/restaurants like in Playas Del Este. Am I allowed to visit for a few hours in between those tours? I know I can go off on my own but can I do that particular thing if I satisfy 8 hours on my day in Cuba?

Thanks

Cotn

Just returned from the Empress. You can do whatever you choose to do any time. You do NOT need to take RCL's expensive tours. You could hire a driver to take you all over for less money and get to go to the beach or wherever you want to go. I spent a lot of time researching this and was worried, but they let you off the ship, you go out to the street and can hail a taxi. Very simple.

Thank you for the information! I have been researching and scouring literature for days trying to determine if we could go explore on our own!!!

Yes you can wander on your own just keep in mind you have to maintain your itinerary for 5 years and it has to meet the US travel reasons.

You don’t need to say much between tours, you could just note on your plans you were back on the ship.
