Live from the navigator baltic cruise review

Recommended Posts

I did this cruise last year on navigator and we had three formal nights. Wonder why they have changed!

It is definitely two nights, one at the beginning and one near the end, after Helsinki.

You will have to be escorted off the ship, this is something new. You all have to meet in Studio B and you are all given an allotted time for this, you are also given a document to take down with you for each person in the cabin. On day 2 you are given a form to say what your intentions are for Russia, this has to be filled in and dropped off with the shore excursions desk within a day. You carry your passport at all times in Russia, The bottom line where it talks about keeping safe, is a typo. You need to carry it with you.

This is the letter you received to disembark, received in your state room the day before.

Jary8--Have you had to take your passport off with you at each port or only SPB? Also, now that you are to SPB I would love to hear about the price ranges you were seeing for the souveniers and drinks/food walking around. Have the temps been climbing in the afternoons? I noticed several people in the pictures you posted yesterday wearing coats and jackets. Thank you so much for all the pictures and info you have been posting so far!

You only need to carry your passport in Russia. I will post some pictures of items and prices later today. It is a sea day today.

The roubles is the best in Russia, the other most common exchanges are from roubles to euros and USD. However buying them in the UK gives a better exchange rate. 199 roubles / $3. /. €3. £1.97 at current exchange rate.

We use a we swap cars, this means we can swap the money back and use one card only. It is a MasterCard. American Express not utilised here.

Thank you for sharing this information. Just to clarify - Russian merchants accept some cash (rubles, euros, and US $) and MasterCard credit card, correct? Also, about how much cash (rubles) would you recommend for small purchases (beverage, snack, trinkets)?

I was also wondering - Should I pack a winter coat or will a light jacket or sweatshirt be OK? Does it get hot enough for shorts and T-shirts? Thanks in advance for helping all of us future travelers.

Once again, thanks so much for this report! It’s so interesting! Can you tell me:

1) what are the free beverages—those without buying any package. Specifically wondering about iced tea, lemonade, regular boring coffee (not fancy or specialty), water. Are these available 24/7 outside of Windjammer’s &/or somewhere else?

2) Does the Navigator of the Seas have any type of on board communication devices similar to walkie-talkies? On a few lines we’ve been on (Disney for sure & maybe NCL or RC?) they call them “sea phones,” and are in the room when you board.

Thank you so much! We leave in just a few days!

Our past Royal Caribbean cruises offered orange, apple, cranberry, and tomato juices in addition to regular hot coffee and tea during breakfast in the main dining room. There was a charge for freshly squeezed orange juice. Hot chocolate was offered during the chocolate themed breakfast. Flavored water (like mango and strawberry-kiwi) were available from lunchtime until late in the buffet and in a cafe near the pool on Grandeur.

Nothing like that on Royal.

Jary8 you are fabulous! I have learned plenty from your posts for our first cruise ever (sailing on the Navigator at the end of July).

You found the red wine man - love it. Should have been part of the scavenger hunt!!

So..... my question (I'm posting many on the roll call thing) Do you have the ultimate dining package thing? We don't so if that's the same for you I'm wondering where you are choosing to eat. You've mentioned Windjammer a few times, is that one your preference over the Sapphire place?

Also.... I'd love to know your ultimate top three tips.

You're a star.

Thanks,

Alison
