Seven Mile Beach

Jim;

Go to the "Cayman Islands" board under "Ports of Call" and you will find all sorts of information in response to your question.

Last April, I was on Grand Cayman with my wife, and two sons, ages 10 and 12. We found a cab and asked for "Seven Mile Beach" and we were taken to the Marriott, which was not open due to hurricane damage. However, they were set up for beach use (bathrooms available, loungers for rent, grill and bar open).

It was great! THe prettiest beach we visited on our western Caribbean trip. What was particularily great was an artifical reef that had been created just off shore. It appeared to me that some time ago, the Marriott had dropped these cement cylinders in the water and over time nature had taken its course so it was teaming with sealife. It was an easy swim offshore and my sons and I flet like we had just been given a part in "Finding Nemo".

I don't know if the Marriott is open now, but if it available for day use, I would recommend it.

Good luck and have fun.

We have just been to Grand Cayman and took a taxi ($20 for 4 of us) to 7 mile beach. It wa very busy as there were 5 ships in but there were plenty of watersports and you could rent beds ($5) and umberella's ($5 small $10 large). The sea was very clear and warm.

We have travelled to GC both by cruise ship & the resort vacation at the Hyatt. Coming off a cruise ship you will enjoy Sea Grape beach...beautiful stretch of beach, food, drinks, water sports & you can find a spot away from the thousands of ship passengers. Enjoy!

Another option is....catch a bus(really a van) from next to the public library in George Town for $3pp have them drop you at the public access(next to Sea Grape Beach), then hit the water.
