Car Rental Problems

Beware of Avis Rental Car Curacao.  We had a reservation with Avis Curacao for several months an followed up three times to ensure that the reservation was confirmed.  However, upon arriving in Willemstad on 18 Feb 2019, we were informed by the Avis agent at the Mega Pier that they were overbooked and that the Manager, Hans de Jongh, had instructed the staff that they only had cars for multiple day bookings.  Had Avis advised me of this situation nine days ahead, when I last confirmed the reservation, I might have been able to make other arrangements.  Consequently, all of our plans for seeing the island were dashed.

 

I have sent Mr. de Jongh an email voicing my complaint as well as having called his office, with no results.  Therefore my advise is to BEWARE OF AVIS CURACAO - DECEPTIVE BUSINESS PRACTICES.  Don't let them screw up your vacation plans.
