Stockholm and Amsterdam

Just booked a cruise that starts in Stockholm and ends in Amsterdam.  Plan to spend a day or two at each so was hoping for some hotel recommendations.  My thought is close to the pier (when we have luggage) for those transfers and then use public transportation to go see the sites.

Any input would be appreciated.

There are two different quays (Frihamen and Stadsgårdskajen/Masthamnen) in Stockholm and you should stay in central Stockholm, not that the quays are particular uncentral anyway though.

Some of the hotels I have stayed at (in the last couple of years)

  1. Radisson Blu next to the central station.
  2. Scandic Klara (x2, formerly Rica Slöjdgatan)
  3. Hotel Kung Carl
  4. Elite Hotels Stockholm Plaza

I have nothing negative to say against any of these. Kung Carl is close to Stureplan which has allot of Bars/nightclubs. My most recent stay (December last year) was at Scandic Klara. Rooms were good quality and I liked how one had to book when you wanted to eat breakfast which was to avoid the restaurant from getting overcrowded. Scandic Klara is also very close to Drottinggatan shopping street and close to both subway (T-centralen) and buses (Sergelstorg). IIRC Scandic is 3 star and the others 4 star, but in reality not much difference between them. To be hones I felt that the breakfast at Radisson felt a bit rushed/staff very quick to remove your plats/bowls.
