Carnival tour to Chichen Itza...

Anyone that has actually done this please help me out. How painful is the bus ride? Is there enough time at the ruins? Bus ride is 2.5 hours (does it really take that long, or do they stop at several other spots)?

Any other issues with the Carnival organized tour? On the bus drive is it scenic?

I just returned from Uxmal tour. We booked through Carnival.

The bus ride was fine. Chartered bus, air conditioned, comfy seats. The buses were the same for the Chichen Itza tour.

As for the 2.5 hour bus ride, it goes by fast. Our bus ride was 2 hr. long. The tour guide made the time pass fast.

More people go to Chichen Itza, the tour for Uxmal is much smaller but more impressive.

Have a great time.

I have done both several times and given the choice I would go to Uxmal in a heartbeat. It is a more "scenic" experience because it is set on hills, so you see the various temples from different viewpoints and over trees, etc. Chichen Itza is set on a pan. I mean both are very interesting but I would always recommend Uxmal--you won't be disappointed.
