BEEZLEE Posted August 8, 2022 #1 Share Posted August 8, 2022 Will be on an upcoming Riviera cruise in Med with several stops in Italy… Do we need to wear a mask outdoors on lounger around the pool deck or playing ping pong / shuffleboard etc ? Read that all ports in Italy mandate that masks are required when in port and even outside on deck (except when eating/drinking). This can’t be right ? Any clarification would be appreciated. Cliff-FLL Posted August 8, 2022 #2 Share Posted August 8, 2022 According to the UK's foreign travel site - https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/italy/coronavirus - the only time people are required to wear masks in Italy are: 1) when entering Italy by ferry, train or coach; 2) on public transport within the country, including boats, ferries, interregional trains, buses, subways, cars and taxis with a driver and, 3) when visiting healthcare facilities such as hospitals and care homes. Occasionally, regional governments might require more but we're all used to rolling with the punches these days. Go, and breathe in peace!
robbie21 Posted August 10, 2022 #3 Share Posted August 10, 2022 Just returned on Sunday from a Regent cruise ending in Italy. Hit four Italian ports. Masks were "required" only on tour buses. Compliance varied. Some guides wore masks and some did not. No enforcement against those not wearing masks. Observed similar variable compliance on public buses. Masks were not required on tenders. Perhaps 10-20% wore masks. Personal preference. On board we saw a few with masks on elevators, etc. Staff continues to wear masks. Don't recall seeing a masked person on the street in Amalfi or Portofino despite the crowds. Seems like the Italians have given up on enforcing mask mandates.
