Please check a map because LaRomana and Amber Cove are at opposite ends of the Dominican with hundreds of miles in between.  Make sure you know where your ship is docking.  The closest city to Amber Cove in the North is Puerta Plata.

CArnival has a lot of cruises that dock at both ports.  We are doing both in December as well from  Horizon
