Puerto Plata for kids

Where would you recommend going with children in Puerto Plata?  They really like animals.  Are the waterfalls accessible or too hard for young children (the youngest is 4)

Maybe some others have input as I haven't been yet, but I was looking at going to Taino Valley when we cruise in February, also sailing with my kids, the youngest being 5.

Looks fun for kids and has good reviews. The ship doesn't offer an excursion, but it looks like you can arrange transportation with them for a few dollars each.

I was thinking ocean world with my kiddos. Have been there before when we did an all inclusive. It’s pretty fun. That or just stay at amber cove and have pool time

We went to Ocean World in January 2022. We actually did the swim with sharks excursion. It was such an experience to get to be in the water with nurse sharks! We are revisiting Puerto Plata in 2024 and I would seriously consider doing that experience again. The park itself is rather small but has a lot of critters to look at. Another excursion we saw people enjoying was the sea lion experience.

We booked Ocean World through the cruise ship.  Is it worth just going for the shows and not doing any pay experiences?

Yes. It’s worth going without the extras. We had a ton of fun. There are cool birds to see ( and feed) there was a free sea lion show and a free shark show

Is Ocean World exciting enough for teenagers who grew up going to Sea World and zoos often?
