Question reguarding 2 day port departure for Tahiti/Hawaii cruises

If this topic already exists, and has been answered, I apologize.  I searched for a while and haven't been able to find it.

I'm interested in booking a 14 day Tahiti to Hawaii cruise.  And noticed on several of the listed itineraries that the ship actually stays in port for the first 2 days before departing.  So I'm curious as to whether anyone can check in on either day?

And if you're able to get off the ship, to see the island?

As I intended to fly in the day before to do a little sightseeing before the cruise.

But if we're able to check in on the first day, then still go back out to see the island, I'd prefer this option over booking a hotel.

Thank you in advance.
