Riviera disembarkation May 11, 2023

We disembarked in Athens this morning and what a difference from November 2021 when we embarked in Athens.

 

getting off the ship today was a breeze, no lines snaking down hallways, blocking elevators or a packed lobby.  All orderly and smooth.   From the time we disembarked to getting into our pre ordered taxi, was 5 minutes!  I am shocked at how quick and orderly it went.

 

we pre ordered a taxi from Welcome pick-ups (they sent Vangelis +30 698 04 17 291) who was outstanding.  He had large sign with our names right at exit, held doors open, had candies, tissues, water, in front of each seat.  He then drove us by many sights pointing out history, Olympic venues, stadium where first Olympics were held.  Was an excellent driver navigating motorcycles, trucks, pedestrians and other drivers.   
 

I was really surprised by how clean Athens is.  Lots of graffiti but no trash on streets.  No cigarette butts thrown on sidewalks.   No panhandlers.   Feels like the city has cleaned itself up a lot.  
 

we are off to join Vista for her Founders journey.
