To answer your question, no I have not yet been to Alaska. We retired last year and are just starting our travels. We have 3 cruises booked this year and 4 cruises booked for next year to celebrate retirement.

Thank you for your pictures and descriptions. We enjoyed your report very much.

LabMom...

Wow, that is the way to "start" retirement.  Tons of cruising.  Way to go!  I certainly hope you enjoy every one of them.  :)

Mister Matthew - Thank you for your entertaining posts and great pictures! 😊

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble with your safe, but glad they finally fixed it!

Your room steward Son was terrific. I'm sorry to also hear about the odor

on your deck. That should have been taken care of right away.  Thanks

for saying that you hung your duffel bag on one of the metal hooks on the side

wall. I never thought of that! It's a great idea and I will do it on my next cruise.

I'm glad you enjoyed your travels.

BetsyS ...

Well, a few things.  I try to write in a way that helps a reader "feel" they are there with me.  If that makes any sense at all?

Yes, the safe.  Oh my gosh, the safe.  Honestly, it was not a major "importance" to me.  But, I wanted to follow through, and have them get my stateroom UP TO PAR.  There is no doubt my room steward was Johnny-On-The-Spot with things.  Good guy.

The odor thing.  I'll be candid, I did not really notice it too much.  Maybe once or twice.  The passengers that queried me about it, well, I suppose they had the WORSE of it.  Perhaps, as others have said, that is why "that" certain elevator was not in operation for the duration of my sailing.

Now, the duffel bag.  How I packed, is like this.

One suitcase.

One carry-on bag (small).

One duffel bag.

So, I hung the duffel on the hook.  It has a long zipper.  So, after a day is "done" I put my dirty clothes in it & zipped it up!  Repeat, repeat.  Very sturdy bag (nylon type).  Got it from Bass Pro Shops.  They have many sizes.  And, this is made so well -- should last for 200 years.
