Hammocks - Costa Maya or Cozumel?

They both have similar ones. We saw them priced at $14.99 at several shops in Cozumel for a single chair hammock. Didn't get one. Then when we got to Majahual, they don't have prices posted, you have to ask. They started at $45!!!! My friends got two at Costa Maya but had to work hard to get the guy down to $15, insisting he could have bought them for that in Coz. They were made very similar so if you see one you like, in a color you like, just make sure you don't overpay and go ahead and get it.

Last year we rented a taxi for the day instead of a tour. He took us anywhere we wanted for $65 for 4 people all day. Anyway, he took us to back side of island to small village that didnt even have electricity. They had small shops with names like "Mexican K-mart" and "Mexican Target". That in it's self was worth the trip...but we bought hammocks for $12 for chair and $16 for regular one. Had to bargin a little to get this, but not much business on that side so didnt take alot.

FYI...we also did ruins...cab driver waited for us....then dropped us off anywhere we wanted in town.

Where did you find the taxi driver? Did you leave the pier area? This is our first time in CM and we are not sure what to expect. Thanks for any info.

We caught a cab right out side the pier area. He was a yung gentleman and we established a price up front. He gave us his card and said to contact him if we ever came back. Will see if I can locate it for you. Anyway besure to look at cabs close to insure you have a good one, and agree on price before you leave. Tell them where you want to go and what you want to see. Our driver took us all over....to scenic beaches, ruins, shopping area onback side of island, and then dropped us off at door of submarine tour office for our next excursion. We spent about 5-6 hours with him for $65. e alos tipped him because we was very good otur guide.
