Boarding in LA

Anyone with tips on boarding in LA? Is it easy or hard? Also is there parking, if we drive to the dock? Lastly is there hotels handy, maybe we'll just spend a nite there before and after. Thanks

We live here in Phoenix and drove to the dock in San Pedro, It's about a 6 hr drive from Phx with traffic and all. Parking was $12.00 a day and we saw hotels and motels near San Pedro. WE actually went to San Diego 1st and than came back through LA on the way back home. WE were off the ship and in our Car at 9:30 am and with stops and lunch we got into Phx about 4:30pm. There is plenty of parking, as above, for $12/day. I recommend arriving at or after 2PM as it can be really crazy in the AM when you have both arriving and departing passengers and vehicles around. They rarely start boarding prior to 1PM, esp. if there is more than one ship in port.
