Anyone tried bringing a spotting scope on Nova?

Hi all, we have our first Silversea cruise to Alaska booked next year. We are big birders and will definitely bring our binoculars. We are unsure whether to bring our spotting scope and tripod? I don't know if a scope would be particularly useful onboard Nova, meaning we are worried that the swaying of the ship might make it difficult to find/focus. Anyone have experience with this sort of thing onboard Nova or other similarly sized ships?

I sometimes see folks with spoting scopes on expedition ships.  However  I question whether the areas the Nova goes in Alaska will be close enough to wildlife that would warrant hauling that much equipment. Depends on your itinerary. A glacier or two maybe. 

 

You might check out Apex Expeditions.  They often do mini charters (25 people) on Silversea Expedition ships.  Birders galore.  Peter Harrison is a wealth of knowledge and happy to share it.
