Juneau-Outer Point Trail

Has anyone taken the Outer Point Trail form the North Douglas Highway. It is supposed to be a 1.5 boardwalk trail near Stephens Passage. Supposedly you may see whales from a rocky beach overlooking Stephens Passage. We are taking so many day cruises in our 2 weeks, my family isn't sure about Capt Larry's I, also, wish we had more time in Juneau. Our ship departs at 4pm

It's a very pretty and easy trail that goes to a very nice beach. Don't count on seeing any whales there, unless they're way off in the distance. Also, during fishing season, the beaches can be quite crowded.

 

Not so easy to get to without a cabride or rental car.

We do have a car reserved. Our day is just too short. I am interested in the Whale watching cruise, but there are many short walks that sound great and the tram. ...too much to choose from.

For a good short hike that is close, try the Perseverance Trail. It's a very short and pretty drive from downtown (practically IS downtown) and can be a short hike/wander around the trailhead and Gold Creek, or much longer, more strenuous hike up into the former mining area.
