Just back from Xpedition

Not that many people are badly affected by Quito's altititude. I would not bother getting drugs unless you know that you have a real problem with it, in which case I would skip Quito and base out of Guyaquil instead. For most people, to stay feeling good at high altitude, avoid alcohol (you don't have totally abstain, but limit yourself to one drink) and drink plenty of water. If you feel a bit headache-y, try some coca tea. Take it easy - don't run around.

Just got back last night from the 4/9 trip. Unfortunately, back to work today. I will try to write a longer trip report this week. It was an amazing journey. We have 600 pictures and great video. Unfortunately, there was an outbreak of that GI virus onboard. I wil report more later.
