1Nana412 Posted April 19, 2006 #1 Share Posted April 19, 2006 My husband and I will be sailing to Alaska on our first cruise ever on May 7th, on the Summit. We are confirmed in a forward stateroom (7001). Having a balcony was not important to us. However, in reading all of the posts, everyone seems to talk about the aft staterooms and NO ONE has mentioned the forward staterooms. Has anyone had any experience with a forward stateroom that they care to share? ;)
Druke I Posted April 19, 2006 #2 Share Posted April 19, 2006 Forward staterooms in heavy pitching seas can be very rough. They are also prone to anchor-chain noise and thruster noise when in port, often earlier than I care to be awakened! I much prefer midships, then aft - last choice for me is forward. Thanks Michael - that's what I was afraid of - well, when you've never sailed before you have to learn these things!

1Nana412 Posted April 20, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted April 20, 2006 Thank you, I posted a thread but I'm not sure it's on the right board. New at these boards.
newbies2cruzn Posted April 20, 2006 #6 Share Posted April 20, 2006 We just got home from Mercury (sailed 4/7). My brother and sister in law were in 9006, forward right corner. No balcony, but a bit larger room. It was much more "bumpy" than our room just down the hall and inside. They liked the larger room, but I think they weren't happy with all the movement. I could not stay in there too long. The worst days were the last two days, as the sea was very choppy and it was pretty windy.
