Miami - 2 days before cruise - rental car?

We are arriving 2 days before cruise (November 27/04), we have never been to Miami before and cant figure out would it be better to rent a car from the airport for the 2 days or taxi it to the hotel and rent a car 1 day, we are wanting to go on an everglades tour on November 26. I have searched and am at a stand still as to what to do. Maybe we do not need a rental car, we could do the everglades tour right from the hotel? or take a taxi, bus or ?? I know there must be past cruisers that have had this dilemna.

I appreciate any suggestions at all !!
